We are First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Claremore, and we are dedicated to being true Disciples of Christ.

We live in a time of great diversity in personal opinion and interpretation. Often these differences are more personal views than Biblical in nature. For that reason we focus on the essentials of the faith while allowing liberty in non-essentials. Rupertus Meldinius said, "In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty and in all things charity." This is how we choose to live out our Christian calling.

We choose to be: A Mission Church.

Our church's mission is to be in mission. "We serve God by serving others" What does this mean? It means we want to share the love of Christ Jesus with everyone. We want to be people who are faithful in meeting Jesus' call to love others as we love ourselves. we do this by serving others.

We choose to be: A Healthy Church

Using the book, Natural Church Development, written by Christian Schwartz, we seek to be balanced and healthy in eight (8) areas of church life, which includes loving relationships (see our relationships page).

These areas are: Inspiring Worship, Empowering Leadership, Gift Oriented Ministry, Passionate Spirituality, Functional Structures, Holistic Small Groups, Need-oriented Evangelism, and Loving Relationships.

And, we choose to be: A Purpose Driven Church

Inspired by Rich Warren's book, The Purpose Driven Church, we have aspired to become the church God has called us to be.

We feel strongly that being a Christian is a privilege and a responsibility. What we believe is shown by how we live. In addition to living, we are called to lead others to God through Jesus Christ.
